Center for Language, Culture, & Regional Studies (CLCRS)

CLCRS hosted its first monthly forum to highlight faculty research outreach to the greater Academy community. CLCRS is dedicated to being the entry point for the Academy for LREC (language, regional expertise, and cultural) learning, teaching, and research and to be a source for LREC scholarly community building. At the inaugural Monthly Forum, Dr. Amaya Amell (Spanish, DFL) highlighted her CLCRS-supported research into separatism in Spain. LTC Gregory briefed how CLCRS can help faculty conduct research and secure grants. Dr. Wolfel participated in the “academic week” of D Co, 92nd Civil Affairs before their deployment to the Balkans/Caucasus. Dr. Wolfel discussed his LREC knowledge of the region and answered questions from the team. CLCRS hopes these interactions will help the Army improve its Cross-Cultural Competence (CCC), especially in areas of high CCC use (e.g. CA, MISO, etc.)
