Mixed Martial Arts Dominates Navy at Warrior CupThe Army Martial Arts Team dominated Navy at the first Army-Navy Taekwondo Warrior Cup with a cumulative score of 82-46. The tournament followed the new NCAA rules, adding a tag team system in place of the traditional single-fighter focused system. There were three tag team matches. CDTs Smith and Eichenberger won the Colored Belt Heavy-weight fight with a score of 22-11, CDTs Kim and Chick won the Women’s Black Belt fight with a score of 17-2, while Peng and Nettles won the Men’s Black Belt fight with a score of 20-10. The singles matches saw strong performances as well from CDTs Chargualaf, Nettles, and Galea. Galea finished off the competition with an outstanding final score of 13-4. Additionally, CDT Eichenberger received the award for the best fighter at the tournament. The Army victory was an important step for both teams, serving as both a learning experience and one of the first tournaments to use NCAA rules.
