The Army West Point Equestrian Team travelled to Centenary Equestrian Center in Long Valley, NJ for a Zone 3, Region 3 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) English Hunter Seat competition hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology. Also competing were riders from Centenary University, Drew University, Marist College, Sarah Lawrence College, SUNY New Paltz, Vassar College, and William Paterson University. Cadets represented USMA well with excellent performances in individual classes. Vinson ’17 placed third in her very first Novice Fences class and Brady also placed third in her Novice Fences class. Hereford ’20 placed third in Novice Flat. In Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter, Grundy ’18, the team’s resident midshipman for the semester, placed second and Suba ’19 placed first. In addition, both Murray ’17 and Mayes ’20 placed first in their Walk-Trot classes. This shot was the last race for our two exchange students, Kreye (Germany) and Grundy (Navy), who will be sorely missed. The team in currently ranked fourth in the region. This was the final IHSA show of the season, but the team will continue to practice throughout the winter in order to prepare for when competitions resume early next semester.
