Cadets Collaborate with Columbia University Students

Two SE450 Project Teams comprised of three cadets each conducted an Interim Progress Review (IPR) with students and faculty from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) in New Your City. The cadet teams each briefed their work in a classroom setting of approximately 20 students and faculty. The cadets summarized their research and explained the systems approach they are using to recommend an “Urban Beach” design for the Gansevoort Peninsula to the Hudson River Park Trust. The Gansevoort Peninsula is a stretch of land along the Hudson River between Pier 52 and Pier 53 that is currently not in use for the public. The Hudson River Park Trust wants to implement an “urban beach” concept that utilizes emerging trends in sustainable urbanization.
