LTC Handler, MAJ Colas, and CPT(P) Webb traveled to the Pentagon with five cadets to visit the Office of Net Assessment as part of their initial briefing for SS491. SS491 is the Department of Social Sciences’ ‘special projects’ course which will give cadets the chance to work on a ‘real-world’ project with a ‘real world’ customer. Dr. Andrew May, the Deputy Director of the Office of Net Assessment, briefed the cadets on the mission of ONA and some ways to approach their particular research problem, which will focus on long term strategies of competition with Russia and China. The cadets left the Pentagon with a greater understanding of ONA’s role as an internal think tank and are well-positioned to develop their research question and proposed strategies over the course of the next semester.
