The Department of Civil & Mechanical Engineering participated in Steel Day hosted by United Steel in East Hartford, Connecticut. Steel Day is an annual event sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and hosted by its members and partners. It is the steel industry’s largest educational and networking function, with events all over the country. This year, 27 civil engineering majors and four faculty and staff toured the facilities of United Steel, which is considered the largest fabricator and erector of structural steel and miscellaneous metals in New England. United Steel, in conjunction with local vendors, provided all that attended with an opportunity to see how the structural steel industry contributes to building America.
