Members of the USMA-Vassar Initiative travelled to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York to attend a History Department Charles C. Griffin Lecture given by Dr. Liam Kennedy, Director of the Clinton Institute for American Studies at the University College Dublin. The lecture, “Follow the Americans: Photography and US Foreign Policy,” explored war photojournalism from Vietnam, the Iran Hostage Crisis, Nicaragua, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq, considering its influence on international affairs. In attendance was Dr. Jonathan Chenette, Interim President of Vassar College. Following the lecture, members of the initiative joined Dr. Chenette and Dr. Kennedy for a group dinner in which Cadets and Vassar College students got to know each other better. In its fifth year, the USMA-Vassar Initiative part of a Mellon Foundation funded project designed to bridge the civil-military divide.
