The Cadet Community on Civil-Military Operations (C3MO) conducted a Key Leader Engagement (KLE) training exercise on Constitution Island. The event introduced cadets to the concept of a KLE through morning classes on conducting a meeting and negotiations, followed by an afternoon simulation exercise. The exercise tested the cadets’ previously learned skills in a scenario where they had to figure out the allocation of supplies for a village hospital while working with a variety of interagency and Host Nation partners, then respond to a hostile reaction from villagers. The event involved cadets, a midshipman, and 5 civilian students from Tufts and Wellesley Universities, linked through the ALLIES program. All present learned valuable skills for conducting meetings, negotiations, and interacting with interagency and host nation personnel.
