Debate Wins 2 Speaker Awards Rutgers Tournament

This weekend the West Point Debate Team traveled to Rutgers University Newark in Newark, NJ for the second tournament of the year. In mid-October, the team will be hosting the 50th Annual West Point Debate Tournament, on post at USMA. Army Debate participated in its second tournament of the season, competing in the Novice, Junior Varsity, and Open brackets. Army Debate walked away with two speaker awards, and four teams breaking into out-rounds, and a tournament runner-up in the Open Division. Army Copeland-Phillips broke into the Octofinal Round of the Novice Division. Army Ruckman-Gallegos broke into the Octofinal Round of the Novice Division. Army Kimmey-McGerty broke into the Quarterfinal Round of the Novice Division. Army Caston-Minter broke into the Final Round of the Open Division. Cadet Caston ’17 and Minter ’19 won the 1st and 5th Place Speaker awards in the Open Division, respectively.
