Speech and Parliamentary Debate Forum Competition

The Speech and Parliamentary Debate Forum defended their National title in their first intercollegiate competition at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. The team’s diligent preparation and hard work paid off as the team took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Novice division. West Point ‘closed out’ the tournament, meaning that after the semifinals, only West Point teams remained. Sharing first place were the teams of Natalie Hales ’20 & Jacob Wells ’20, and Daniel Berardino ’20 & Tim Mclaughlin ’17. Third place went to the team of Nathan Frederickson ’20 & Nick Oblak ’17. Daniel Berardino won the top speaker award for the tournament, with six other participants also earning speaker honors. The team looks forward to its next competition at Harvard University on 7 October.
