Women’s Boxing travelled to Seattle, WA, to compete in the NCBA (National Collegiate Boxing Association) for the first time in the history of Women’s Boxing this year. The team trained 5-8 times per week from August until April in preparation for Nationals, and when the time came they met the challenge head on. After six female boxers qualified for Nationals at the NCBA East Regional Competition, the team had the opportunity to compete in the NCBA National Championships. The Army West Point Women’s Boxing team placed fourth in the Nation overall in the team competition. The Team Captain, CDT Sarah Gold, fought her way to be the National Champion in the Women’s 156lb weight division. CDT Ejakhian Obiomon placed 2nd in the 165lb weight division, and CDT’s Mikaila Wiitanen, Sarah Soliven, Briana Dorsey, and Esther Nagila all fought their way to the semi-finals and earned 3rd place.
