The Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering created a display to recognize World Water Day on March 22, 2016. The event is executed world-wide and sponsored by the United Nations (http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday). Water bottles were stacked in the hallway to represent the 580 Liters of water that each person in the United States uses each day. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines "reasonable access" to water as 20 Liters per person per day, within 1 kilometer of the person's dwelling location. To symbolize this concept, we placed a single 20 Liter container (the blue water jug) with a sign asking cadets "Would you consider it reasonable to carry this 20 liter water jug back from Lusk Reservoir each day?" Cadets also wrote their thoughts on a chalk wall in response to the prompt "Water is valuable to me for..." Responses varied from "Coffee" to "Winning Wars."
