CENTER VALLEY, PA - Army West Point women's lacrosse sophomore Amy Johnston was recognized as Patriot League Attacker of the Week on Monday after finishing with five goals and four assists in two games last week. The honor marks the first of Johnston's career, and is the team's second straight week with a Patriot League weekly acknowledgment, after Nikki Polhamus was named Rookie of the Week on Feb. 22.
Johnston had a hand in seven of Army's 10 goals during a 10-9 win over LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 25, as the sophomore scored three goals and added four assists. She also added a season-best eight draw controls in the victory. After LIU Brooklyn tied the game with 13 seconds remaining, Johnston won the ensuing draw before carrying the ball down field and scoring with four seconds on the clock to send the Black Knights to the one-goal decision. A Salt Lake City, Utah, native, Johnston also contributed a pair of goals, six draw controls and four ground balls to Army's 10-8 win at UMass Lowell on Feb. 28, as the Black Knights improved to 3-1 on the young season.
