Introductory Sociology Visit Centers around Rationality in Modernity - aka Visits McDonald's. The PL371: Introductory Sociology class spent Lesson 12 at McDonald's in Highland Falls learning about George Ritzer's notions of the McDonaldization of Society. McDonaldization is couched in theorist Max Weber's ideas of the iron cage of rationality. The cadets used McDonald's as a laboratory where they identified the four elements of McDonaldization: efficiency, control, calculability, and predictability where a significant amount of each leads to the irrationality of rationality.
