The Army West Point Equestrian Team travelled to the New Jersey Equestrian Center in Pompton Plains, NJ, where they competed in three ISHA Zone 3 Region 3 Western Shows. In the first show, the cadets that placed first in their classes included: CDT Caroline Harris, CDT Matilda Brady, and CDT Maddie Suba. Placing second in their classes were CDT Chris Senese, CDT Katie Silecchia, and CDT Mike Murray; placing third in their classes were CDT Holly Rodeo and Team Captain, CDT Crystal Calderon. With all of the riders placing so high in their classes, the Army West Point team was able to claim a victory in the first show. Placing first in the second show were CDTs Silecchia, Harris, Rodeo, and Brady; CDT Suba claimed second place, and participants placing third were CDTs Guettlein and Calderon. With these great placements in the second show, the Army Team was also able to claim a victory in the second show as well. The third and final competition of the day was also an excellent showing for Army Equestrian. CDTs Braddy, Guettlien, and Suba all placed first in their classes; CDT’s Iwanyk and Rodeo placed second in their classes; and CDT’s McCarthy, Johnson, Murray and Calderon brought home third place in their classes. At the end of the day, the Army Equestrian team brought home the triple crown, giving them a laudable 3-1 record for the Western Season this year, and finishing ahead of equestrian powerhouse, Centenary College.
