NEW YORK - Army West Point senior Kelsey Minato was chosen as the Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA), the organization announced Tuesday. Minato was recognized on Monday as Patriot League Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week. Players eligible for the weekly award must play for one of the 74 New York-area schools across Divisions I, II and III that fall under the MBWA.
Minato averaged 26.0 points in road victories over St. Francis Brooklyn (74-35) and NJIT (71-35) last week, while shooting over 50.0 percent from three-point range and overall. The senior scored a season-high 30 points and shot 8-of-13 from three-point range to match her own team record for most threes in a game.
