Orienteering team kicked off Army-Navy Week with a competition in Lorton, VA. There, the Army West Point Orienteering team had a dominating victory over the Midshipmen of the Naval Academy. Army beat Navy 149-71 in the first ever Army-Navy orienteering meet at Occoquan Regional Park in Northern Virginia. Stand-out performances by CDTs Nick Ives ’16, William Whitaker ’18, Jessica Johnson ’18, and Sean Brennan ’19, who each placed first in their competitive categories and highlighted the team’s efforts. CDT Dan O’Conor ’17, an Army Orienteer and exchange cadet at Navy this semester, has spent many hours teaching orienteering to members of the Naval Academy. This Army-Navy meet would not have happened without the help of CDT O’Conor’s initiative and efforts. This successful event will hopefully set the stage for many Army-Navy Orienteering meets in the future.
