CDT Kenneth Brinson '19Kenneth Brinson has always been a motivated and dedicated athlete.

Which is why when he was looking for a college, he was looking for a place where he could pursue the sports that he was passionate about. Brinson played three varsity sports in high school and was determined to participate in as many as he could at a collegiate level.

At the end of the search, he determined West Point was where he would be able to actualize that goal while simultaneously being challenged in a variety of other ways.

"I think most of it is just the people and the breadth of experience and opportunity to develop myself is what attracted me most," Brinson said. "Football and track worked well together. I competed in football and track in high school and I really love both sports, so it's been a blessing to be able to do both."

For nearly two decades, the academic year at West Point has culminated in Projects Day, the United States Military Academy's annual showcase of presentations, poster sessions, theses defenses, and performances that represent the best of cadet intellect, creativity, and tenacity. For approximately four hours (or, in the case of presentations and theses defenses, for roughly 40 minutes), cadets display their project to the public and remain available to answer any questions that anyone might have about their work. But Projects Day is as much about the four-year (47-month) West Point experience as it is about those four hours. Click here to see photos.

"Projects Day is not just a day to reflect on cadet achievement but also on the teaching and mentorship that helped bring these projects to fruition," says BG Cindy Jebb '82, USMA's 14th Dean of the Academic Board. It's also a day to thank all the donors who have generously contributed to the Margin of Excellence programs that funded many of the projects seen on Projects Day. Two-hundred and seventy-two of these donors returned to West Point to view the work of the cadets, and during the West Point Association of Graduates' Donor Tribute Day Luncheon Jebb said to them, "I cannot help but come away inspired by the passion, energy, intellect, critical thinking and entrepreneurial spirit displayed in the cadets' projects thanks to your support."
