The USMA Vietnamese-American Forum took a trip to Boston, MA, to attend the Boston College Vietnamese Culture Show. The Vietnamese Culture Show proved to be an outstanding display of the beauty and diversity of the Vietnamese Culture. The cadets had the opportunity to make important contacts and share in their cultural experiences. In addition to meeting the leadership of the Boston College Vietnamese Student Association (BC VSA), the group also met Mrs. Ahn Vu Sawyer, the Executive Director of the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts and a recent recipient of the Massachusetts Immigrants and Refugees Advocacy Coalition Outstanding Member Award. Mrs. Sawyer is also a published writer and public speaker; her memoir, Song of Saigon, was published by Warner Books in February, 2003. Her writing has also appeared in the Houston Chronicle and Philadelphia Inquirer Newspapers, Wheaton College Alumni Magazine, and on Warner Book’s Author’s Lounge website. The group is planning on increasing their engagement with the BC VSA in the future.
