Cadets enrolled in the gateway seminar to the Writing Fellows Program attended a guest lecture by noted Cambridge lawyer Peter Ellis, a former Naval Officer, graduate of Harvard Law School, and former partner at Foley Hoag LLP. Mr. Ellis drew on his thirty-five years of experience as a trial lawyer, specifically in intellectual property litigation, to discuss with the cadets the relationship of writing to critical thinking; the idea of writing as a craft across legal, scientific, and technical professions; and, different strategies for teaching writing effectively.
