ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point men's tennis team spent its weekend behind enemy lines at the Joe Hunt Invitational hosted by Navy and got some major contributions from the young members of the team.

Sophomores Michael Nguyen, Gregory Shannon, Michael Sienko and Daniel Zheng all made the trip for the Black Knights with Shannon having a particularly good weekend after going 5-3 overall, competing in the "E" draw for singles and "B" draw for doubles with Zheng. The Longwood, Fla.-native finished in sixth place in singles while the southern duo finished third after making it to the quarterfinals.

"Our doubles play this weekend was really good," said head coach Jim Poling. "Making it to the semifinals in both flights really speaks to how these guys are progressing. Shannon has come along well. He is using his 6'6 frame very well, and that's helped him have such a powerful serve. Ultimately, the work we're doing now helps us get better for the spring, and I like how everyone has worked so far." Read More
