Climbing (Mountaineering):
- On 20 Sept., the West Point Climbing Team took eight cadets to the Shawagunks Mountain Range, also called the Gunks, to participate in a day of outdoor climbing
- Cadets on the trip included three plebes who had never been to the Gunks before
- During the day, the coaches and upper-class cadets taught the newer climbers technical systems and practices of safe outdoor climbing
- The experienced climbers also taught a lesson on proper descent techniques, and each cadet rappelled down
- Throughout the majority of the morning and after-noon, all of the cadets climbed over nine different top rope routes

- From 19-21 Sept., the Army West Point Marathon Team travelled to Ottawa, Ontario, to compete in the Canada Army Run
- The Canada Army Run is a half marathon dedicated to the Canadian troops, as well as their families

- After a successful training weekend, the team is ready to begin their fall season and is poised to pursue a fifteenth consecutive National Championship in the spring

- The event finished with an exhibition match between local Chicago boxers and the West Point Men’s Boxing Team; West Point won, 6-2
Crew:
- On 19 Sept., the Army West Point Crew team competed in the 6th Annual Rum-son Boat Race in Rumson, NJ, against Drexel, Rutgers, and Villanova

- Drexel won each of the four events; Army Crew took second place in two events, the men’s and women’s JV8

- The first varsity eight finished third by very close margins in the other two races
- Given the training progress to date, each boat put together a strong race, proving that they are competitive against quality programs
