WEST POINT, N.Y. - Junior Nick Williams scored his first goal of the season to help lift the Army West Point men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday evening at Clinton Field. Unbeaten in their last three games, the Black Knights improve to 2-3-1 on the year, while the visiting Knights drop to 2-4-0.
"It's the first shutout of the year for us, so we have to take a lot of positives out of that," said head coach Russell Payne. "There are some things we have to work on, in terms of our ability to keep the ball a little better, but we got a 1-0 shutout and that's very positive."
Army earned the game's first free kick just 1:54 into the contest, with sophomore Marcos Arroyo sending the set piece into Fairleigh Dickinson's wall before gathering the deflection and again striking a shot off of a visiting defender. Read More
