In January, Dr. Marion Kaplan, the Skirball Professor of Modern Jewish History at New York University, spoke to cadets enrolled in XH405 The Holocaust and its Legacy on Jewish life in Nazi Germany up to 1938 and how the Nazi government legitimized the exclusion and persecution of racial minorities in Germany. Her lecture and follow on discussion helped cadets learn how to recognize extremist ideologies in the future and think creatively about how individuals, governments, or militaries can act to counter them.
