Men's Tennis to Host Coast Guard AcademyThe Army West Point Men's Tennis team will welcome the United States Coast Guard Academy to the Lichtenberg Tennis Center Saturday afternoon for the first time in program history. The Black Knights and the Bears will play a pair of matches starting with the first round of doubles play at 11 a.m. followed by an additional round at 3 p.m.

Army competed to a 9-6 dual record last spring before having their season halted. After opening the new year with a tough 0-4 loss to St. John's, the Black Knights went on a six-match win streak from January 26 to February 9, including wins over UCONN, Binghamton, Georgetown, Morgan State, St. Bonaventure and Bryant. The team then ventured to the west coast to meet two tough rivals in USC and Air Force, coming up just short against the Falcons in a 2-4 loss before returning to home court. The Black Knights then recorded three straight wins against NJIT, Fairfield and Monmouth in what would be their final matchups of the year.

“The team and the coaches are excited to have the opportunity to play Coast Guard Academy especially since we have not competed since last March. It will be great fun,” said head coach Jim Poling.

Athletes from both sides have complied with their institutions' and conferences' respective COVID-19 testing guidelines ahead of the competition. The match will be closed to outside spectators but will have a live video stream of the match.
