Congratulations to MAJ Bryan Lagasse and co-authors from Clemson University for their published research titled “Fast Degradation of Hydrogen Peroxide by Immobilized Catalase to Enable the Use of Biosensors in Extraterrestrial Bodies,” in the journal Astrobiology. Although hydrogen peroxide serves as a potential source of energy in living systems, it may interfere with biosensors used in the detection of extraterrestrial bodies. Hence, the significance of this published work in presenting a technique to degrade hydrogen peroxide in order to facilitate identification of biologically relevant molecules in advancing research on extraterrestrial systems.
