Twenty-Three Cadets and two French instructors (Dr. Foster and Dr. Tonnerre) from the French Forum spent a weekend immersed in the Francophone culture of Montreal, Quebec to use their French language skills and learn more about the local region and history. Cadets and faculty visited the Notre Dame Basilica, the surrounding old town of Montreal, and sampled delicious Montreal-style bagels. The group also visited the McCord Museum to learn about the local art and history of Montreal. Many cadets tried poutine, the local dish consisting of fries, cheese curds, gravy, and any additional top-pings. The highlight of the trip was a cultural dinner where cadets exercised their language skills through conversing with wait staff in French and ordering food from a French menu. For some students, it was their first time leaving the country, and it proved to be a memorable and exciting experience for them as they were able to practice their language skills and learn more about our neighbors to the north.
