The Crew team competed in the men’s club and collegiate categories of the world-famous Head of The Charles Regatta in Boston, competing with over 11,000 athletes and 400,000 spectators from all around the world, including competitors abroad from China, Great Britain, Sweden, and nationally from the U.S. National Team, Harvard, Princeton, U-Penn, Navy, and Coast Guard. Select novice gained valuable racing experience on the Charles and a deeper appreciation for the sport of and culture surrounding rowing. The coaches helped launch John Fey, U.S. Army Retired, who is part of the Veterans Adaptive Rowing, Dallas United Crew. He was competing in the Head of the Charles for the first time. The coach is LTC (R) Chuck Mueller who taught in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CME) in the late 1970's. The program helps those with spinal injuries or amputation become involved in and compete in the sport of rowing. SGT Fey visited with cadets at their trailer following his race.
