Firstie quarterback Keegan West and yearling defensive lineman NaVonte Dean of the Army West Point sprint football team were honored by the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) for their accomplishments in Friday's 28-6 victory over Penn. West was named the league's offensive player of the week for the second time this season, while Dean collected the defensive player of the week nod for the first time in his career.
West went 38-for-59 from under center for 374 yards and four touchdowns, setting new single-game career highs in completions, pass attempts and passing yards. It was the West Point, N.Y., native's firstcareer 300-yard game and the third time in four games this season with at least 250 yards and four touchdowns. He currently leads the CSFL in passing yards (1,130), passing yards per game (282.5), completions (104), pass attempts (156), completion percentage (66.7) and passing touchdowns (15).
Dean guided the Black Knights' defensive unit in limiting the Quakers to just six points after they entered the game averaging 32.0 points per game. The Fairfax, Va., native totaled eight tackles, four tackles for a loss of 13 yards, three sacks for a loss of 12 yards and forced two fumbles on strip sacks. He currently leads the CSFL in tackles for loss (8.5) and sacks (7.0), while tying for the league-lead in forced fumbles (2).
The Black Knights return to action on Saturday when they travel to Post for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
