Following his Star Meet victory, cow Roman Ollar has been selected as the Patriot League Male Runner of the Week. Ollar's first place finish against Navy helped lead the Black Knights to their largest margin of victory over their rival since 1996. Ollar's time of 23:58.98 marked the fastest time ever by an Army runner at the Naval Academy course.
"Roman had a nice breakthrough in the Star Meet this weekend," Army head coach Mike Smith said. "He ran a controlled race and was feeling strong the whole way. I wasn't surprised to see him at the front of the race as he has trained at a very high level this fall. If he brings that same competitive fire and determination to the races that are coming up, he will be in the hunt to win some big races." The victory gave the Black Knights their second straight win over Navy, a feat they have only accomplished three times before. It also marked their seventh victory at the Naval Academy since 1960. In four competitions this season, Ollar has three top-five finishes. He placed in the top-25 out of over 350 runners in the highly competitive Paul Short Run at Lehigh.
