Cadets Meet Senior Leaders

Four cadets who completed Academic Individual Advanced Development's (AIAD) in U.S. National Forest Stations this summer met with senior leaders visiting the Department of Behavioral Science and Leadership (BS&L) to share highlights from their experiences. Cadets interned in National Forests in Idaho, New Mexico, New York City, Montana, Vermont, and Wyoming. Cadets' experiences included working with the Incident Commander to manage the Buzzard Fire in New Mexico, working with silviculturists to conserve endangered pines in Montana, surveying old timber plots in Wyoming, preparing nesting sites for diamondback terrapins in NYC's Idlewild Marsh, and the application of Geospatial Information Sciences to real-world management of forest resources. Additionally, LTC Mindy Kimball briefed visitors on the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering (G&EnE) Environmental Program.
