Army West Point sprint football firstie James Scroggins was recognized by the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) as the defensive player of the week on Tuesday.
Scroggins was a dominant force for the Black Knights in their 45-7 season-opening victory over Chestnut Hill on Friday evening. The West Palm Beach, Fla., native caused three turnovers with two fumble recoveries and an interception. Scroggins added four tackles as the Black Knights extended their winning streak to nine games, the longest since 2012-14 when the team won 20 consecutive games.
The Black Knights travel to service-academy rival Navy for the first Star Game of the 2018-19 season on Friday at 7 p.m.
