After scoring a trio of goals this past week to help the Army West Point men's soccer team go 2-0 and extend its unbeaten streak to four games, yearling Eric Whiteman was tabbed the Patriot League's Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first time in Whiteman's career that he received a weekly award from the league. He is the second Cadet this season to reel in a Patriot League weekly honor. In a 3-0 victory over Siena on Tuesday afternoon, Whiteman got Army on the board with his first collegiate goal. The Elgin, Ill., native later added an insurance score in the contest. On Saturday, Army had a 1-0 lead over Mount St. Mary's in the second half before Whiteman got a touch on a ball off a Keenan O'Shea corner and put it into the back of the net for his third tally of the week.
Whiteman and the Black Knights will return to the pitch tonight night for a 7 p.m. matchup at Fairfield.
