The paper titled "Wearable Technologies for Enhanced Soldier Situational Awareness" was authored by Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Korpela (RRC Director) and Major Amber Walker (DARPA Engineer). The paper was the result of a research project which demonstrated the application of gesture control for remotely operating robots using wearable technology. The paper was presented at the conference by Mr. Pratheek Manjunath (RRC), who won the 'Best Oral Presentation' award and accepted the 'Best Paper' award on behalf of the authors. The conference was held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). This provided an opportunity for networking with the robotics researchers at UNLV's Drones and Autonomous Systems Laboratory (DASL). Mr. Manjunath met with Dr. Paul Oh (Director of DASL), who is a pioneer in aerial manipulation using quadcopters.
