Race to Zero Competition in Golden, CO

CDTs Ander Thompson, Nick Decenzo, Emma Hanna and Hunter Purvis (Team 3D) traveled to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado to compete in the Race to Zero Competition, an international competition sponsored by the Department of Energy to design a net zero energy structure. The interdisciplinary capstone team was named national finalists in March and asked to present their project to scientists and industry experts. Team 3D printed their home and rendered it in virtual reality, inviting judges and competitors to virtually "step inside" and explore their design. Presentations were open-format; other teams were encouraged to observe each other brief. This team presented to a packed conference room and did an outstanding job.
