The Army Taekwondo team travelled to American University in Washington D.C. to compete at Collegiate Taekwondo Nationals. The competition was tough but the team was still able to produce three national champions. CDT Madison Curry became the men's heavy yellow belt national champion. CDT Richard Sung became the men's yellow belt welter weight national champion and CDT Travis Phelan became the men's green belt middle weight national champion. Additionally, the team brought home many silver and bronze medals as well. CDT George Ngoh placed second in the men's yellow belt lightweight division. CDTs Uzoma Ezeonyeka, Antonio Viera, Chris Dao, and Ara Gahan all placed third in their respective divisions. Notably, in the black belt Champion's division, Ashley Rivera earned the bronze medal in her division. Although they did not come home with the first place trophy, the team dominated where it could and showed the strength of the Army West Point Taekwondo program against other schools. The team is excited where it is in its development, as new members are gaining experience. The team will be ready to bring back the national championship trophy back to West Point in the upcoming years.
