Cadets Tour Sikorsky Facility in Stratford

Twenty-four cadets from Helicopter Aeronautics and six cadets from Sustaining the Force toured the facilities at the Sikorsky plant in Stratford, CT. The company assembles UH-60 helicopters and manufactures components for the CH-53K there. The cadets were exposed to manufacturing processes, assembly processes, component testing, flight simulation, autonomous helicopter testing, helicopter design, and a discussion on future vertical lift technology. The group was hosted by COL(R) Mike Mudd '80, and MAJ Rob Massey '04. A recent post about this trip on social media garnered a reply from a former cadet that remembered the same type of trip from 1983, indicating the long history that the course has with this trip section.
