EXCEL Scholars Program Welcomes 2LT Nattiel '17

Excel Scholar cadets and faculty attended the monthly Fireside Chat. The guest speaker was 2LT Christian Nattiel '17 and the first African-American graduate to earn the Rhodes Scholarship. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Education (Higher Education) and an MBA at Oxford. In answering the third question "how am I going to get there?" Christian advised cadets to put careful thought into making a detailed plan on how to achieve their goals. He warned them not to allow themselves to get distracted. He commented that to be better, you must do what others are not. 2LT Nattiel advised cadets to make the most of the incredible team of mentors here at West Point across the spectrum, from academic instructors to TACs. Christian encouraged cadets to take advantage of the amazing leadership opportunities offered to them at USMA, as the skills they learn will distinguish them from their peers both in academia and the military.
