Cadets Visit FBI’s Critical Incident Response GroupEleven Cadet Fellows from the Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership (BS&L) West Point Negotiation Project visited the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) subordinate units, the Crisis Negotiation Unit and the Hostage Rescue Team at their campus within the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. The cadets (nine of whom are qualified as FBI crisis negotiators, having previously taken the course) refreshed their crisis negotiation skills and partook in case study analyses on the Maersk Alabama hijacking (2009) and the Malheur/Oregon Standoff (2016) negotiations. Cadets also enjoyed a familiarization with the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team. The West Point Negotiation Project is a USMA faculty effort to improve the ability of military leaders to negotiate and is an activity within BS&L's West Point Leadership Center.
