The Center for the Study of Civil-Military Operations (CMO) at West Point and its Cadet Community on CMO Club (C3MO) recently participated in the Tufts University Fletcher School's Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship (EPIIC) Symposium to address the question: "Is the Liberal World Order Ending?" The attendees listened to panels on issues regarding human migration across borders, globalization and technology, responsibility to protect doctrine, nuclear proliferation, populism and nationalism, alternative forms of governance, as well as the culminating topic of America's future in the world order. Keynote speakers included Allan Rock, former Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations, as well as Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and former Minister of Environment of Nigeria. Through this event, the cadets gained new perspective into the discussion of the liberal world order and the role of the United States in international issues. In breakout sessions, cadets asked questions that pertained to the ever-changing defense and security of the nation in light of the examined issues. Attendance at this event is brokered through the C3MO participation in the Tufts Alliance Linking Leaders in Education and the Services (ALLIES), an undergraduate organization dedicated to improving civil-military relations. The ALLIES bring together students of Tufts University, USMA, USNA, Wesleyan University, VMI, University of North Georgia, and other schools for quarterly engagements in an academic setting.
