Ethics of War Conference in Warsaw, PolandOver spring break, the Department of English and Philosophy co-sponsored an Ethics of War Conference at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, Poland. The conference, which focused on contemporary issues related to the study of ethics in war, featured speakers from all over the world. Colonel David Barnes gave opening remarks. Cadets and faculty had the opportunity to hear keynote addresses from both Helen Frowe and Brian Orend, from the University of Stockholm and the University of Waterloo respectively. When not at the conference, they were graciously escorted around Warsaw by the faculty of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University. While there, USMA personnel visited the Polish Army Museum, the Polish National Gallery, the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the Polish Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the Kashmir Pulaski Museum, and the site of the 1920 Battle of Warsaw, where the army of the newly liberated Poland repelled an invasion by the USSR.
