The Army West Point softball team claimed a pair of victories over Manhattan in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The Black Knights (5-12) had plenty of success at the plate, scoring 11 runs on 19 hits in the two games combined. Amelia Trotter went 3-for-6 with a run scored and two RBI, while Lacey Swafford was the primary run producer, driving in four runs on three hits. On the mound, Courtney Springman and Macey Newbary both posted stellar outings. In the first game, Springman got the nod and went the distance. She did not allow a single earned run, while fanning five Jasper (7-7) batters. Newbary started inside the circle in the second tilt and threw a complete game shutout.
