Men's Lacrosse Opens League Play with Road WinAfter a strong 7-0 start, the Army West Point men's lacrosse team topped Lafayette 13-4 on the road Saturday to open Patriot League contests at 1-0. The Black Knights were led by AJ Barretto's nine saves and the team's 11 caused turnovers. Lafayette was held scoreless for the first 35:07 of play. David Symmes and Nick Santorelli both posted two goals in the win, while Conor Glancy notched two assists. Army is now 1-0 in the Patriot League and 37-0 all-time against Lafayette. The Black Knights had 11 different goal scorers in today's game and six of the 13 goals were assisted. Nate Jones, Sean O'Brien, Austin Colvin, Glancy, Nicholas Garofano, Matt Manown, Alex Alacqua, Connor DeWitt and Miles Silva all recorded a goal for the Cadets. In the assist column were Symmes, Jones, O'Brien and Jon LaMonica. LaMonica, Symmes, Jones and Johnny Surdick each picked up four ground balls in the effort. Surdick led the team with two caused turnovers. Paul Newbold made a save in the final 3:48 for Army. The first class now boasts 36 wins in their careers on the banks of the Hudson. Read More
