CDT Weiss '19 Attends the Annual ASM

CDT Thomas Weiss '19 and MAJ Jeremy Hershfield attended the annual American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Biothreats conference in Baltimore, MD. CDT Weiss is a Life Science major on the pre-medical track, actively researching antimicrobial resistance and bacteriophages with MAJ Hershfield and LTC Barnhill. The three-day event included scientists and policymakers from government, industry, and academia presenting talks and posters on diseases such as Influenza, Anthrax, and Ebola, as well as prevention, mitigation, and response strategies for dealing with mass outbreaks and acts of bioterrorism. MAJ Hershfield was a co-author on multiple posters from a previous assignment at the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID).
