The Special Interest Group for Security, Audit and Control (SIGSAC) club met at Thayer Hall to receive physical security training by the Core Group. Through this training, cadets in SIGSAC received full awareness of how to best protect buildings and grounds from unauthorized access, as well as how to compromise most existing physical security to understand realistic threats and risks. Physical security is a frequently overlooked component of data and system security in the technology world. While often forgotten, it is no less critical than timely patches, appropriate password policies, and proper user permissions. The most hardened servers and networks will not make the slightest difference if someone can gain direct access to physical devices which hold sensitive and important information.
