A cadet team from the one-semester capstone course Applied Systems Design and Decision Making, from the Department of Systems Engineering traveled to Arizona to visit a Lockheed Martin Level 2 maintenance repair depot for the Apache helicopter M-TADS/PNVS (Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor) system. Given the wide-ranging and complex nature of repairs that the depot receives, the cadet team is exploring how to incorporate Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) into the repair and training process to improve overall depot efficiencies, better support repair technicians, and establish a technology foundation that could be utilized in other repair applications and platforms in the future.
