Cub Scout Pack Visits West Point Observatory

A den of fifteen young Cub Scouts visited the West Point Observatory and Planetarium in the hope of earning their space badge. The scouts participated in an interactive space show presentation by Dr. Paula Fekete in the inflatable planetarium followed by the viewing of the full-dome feature, Back to the Moon for Good. The show presents the "space race" to return to the Moon after 40 years, spurned by the Google Lunar XPRIZE. In the latter part of the visit, the den proceeded to the 6th floor Observatory. Scouts took a peek at the Moon although observation conditions were less than ideal. The young scouts' behavior was exemplary, thus they more-than deserved earning their coveted space badge.
