Cadets in the Elsie Sannes-Pinnell Art Appreciation Forum and the Studio Arts Forum traveled to New York City for the clubs' annual tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With over two million works, the Met is one of the world's largest art galleries and the largest art museum in the United States. Cadets studied sculptures from Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia; Islamic art; medieval illuminated manuscripts; modern and contemporary works; musical instruments; and an entire wing devoted to arms and armor from around the world. The highlight of this year's trip, though, was a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of Michelangelo's works, which included dozens of his drawings and three of his marble sculptures.
