The 16th-ranked Army West Point men's lacrosse started the season off on a great note, defeating UMass, 18-6, on Saturday afternoon at Michie Stadium. Army (1-0) was lead by David Symmes, Conor Glancy, Ted Glesener and Nate Jones. All four of them recorded hat tricks, while Symmes was the game's highest scorer with four points. Goalie AJ Barretto made nine saves in his 2018 debut. Noak Rak was UMass' best player on the field with two goals and he won 12-of-19 faceoffs. Army and Massachusetts kicked off the lacrosse season for the eighth straight season. This was the 27th all-time meeting between the Black Knights and Minutemen. Army has cut the all-time series to 14-13 in favor of the Minutemen. The 18 goals were the most in the series for the Black Knights.
