MG Patricia Frost, Director of Cyber, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 visited the W2KGY Ground Station to learn how the station and the Cadet Amateur Radio Club conducts activities to broaden cadets' understanding of HF radio communications. The Cadet-in-Charge, Cadet Jonathan Morton '18 – KE8EBT along with Cadet Logan Leahy '18 – KD2MWT and Cadet Connor Eckert '18 discussed with MG Frost how earning their amateur radio license and participating in military communications exercises on HF have provided them with critical skills they can carry with them to the Army upon commissioning. Club OIC CPT(P) Matthew Sherburne – KF4WZB and LTC Stephen Hamilton – KJ5HY briefed the history of the station's establishment and continued improvement. MG Frost indicated that HF radio education and usage will be important for the Army when encountering cyber contested and denied environments.
